ROMAN LENANCKER 

Romain Lenancker offers an immersion in a synthetic world, in a composed and manufactured way, and thus, aslo slightly fantastic.

Coming from still life, he is trying to freeze temporalities in his artwork. First by exploring material, for objects, or rather material, that he's photographing are his creations. He is obsessional in his willingness to create and also to freeze time with material. The idea here is not to reenact things, much more to reenact time, a liquid, solar time. Temporality is in that respect reenacted first to freeze by photography. This is why, among others, rendering and aspect in material is essential, even more so primordial, even more so primordial in his artwork. 

To a certain extent, his photographs suggest an other origin of the world, a world that would be not out of ours, but inside of it. In this way we are immersed in a intimist connection, in the etymological sense of the term, with the material of his pieces of work that he's imagining and conceiving in his parisian studio.

This necessity for him to produce his own pieces to photograph comes from his origin as a set designer, that taught him to master material fabrication. With the same leitmotiv to recreate from things that he experienced and saw in nature, an affective sensitive universe.
